Once upon a time, there was a king from India who had a single son, and this son was to be the heir to the throne after him. The king decided to marry his son, so he gathered his ministers and asked them, "Does any of you have a daughter who could be married to my son?"
However, the king set a strange condition for choosing the right wife. He declared that all the candidates, whether daughters of ministers or ordinary women, would have to prove their worthiness. He made all the candidates, including the ministers' daughters and the daughters of common people, undergo a test. Among them was the daughter of a servant who worked in the palace. She was poor but ambitious. The servant woman decided to let her daughter participate in the test, saying, "Perhaps my daughter’s luck is just as good as the ministers' daughters. Everything is fate."
The king ordered that small pots (containers for planting) and special seeds be distributed to each participant. He told them, "You have one month to take care of these seeds, and the one who grows the most beautiful and vibrant flower will become my son's wife and the next heir."
The participants began to plant their seeds. The ministers' daughters used their wealth to buy the best fertilizers and tools to care for the seeds. As for the servant's daughter, she planted the seed with care and attention, but she noticed that the seed never sprouted despite all her efforts.
When the month ended, everyone gathered to present their results to the king. The ministers' daughters brought their pots full of beautiful flowers: one with red flowers, another with yellow flowers, and each one proudly showed off her flowers. As for the servant’s daughter, she brought an empty pot, but it was clean and well-arranged.
The king looked at the results and then said, "The seeds I gave you were all sterile, and they could not sprout. The only girl who showed honesty and did not deceive anyone is the servant's daughter. Therefore, she will be my son's wife and the heir to the throne."
And so, the servant's daughter proved that honesty and integrity are what make a person worthy of trust and responsibility, not wealth or position.
